What We Do
Texas A&M Robomasters Robotics is a student-run robotics project team. We are students from a variety of engineering backgrounds who are passionate about the development of robotics. Established in the Fall of 2018, our mission is to build robots for the annual international Robomasters Robotics Competition where we compete against universities from all over the world. Here, students develop skills and apply their technical knowledge in the development of our robots.
Learn About the Subteams
Hardware
The hardware subteams perform all aspects of the mechanical design and manufacturing of our robots, using industry-standard tools. Our organization harbors five different hardware subteams– Standard, Hero, Sentry, Engineer, and Dart/Aerial– each responsible for at least one robot that plays its own unique role in the competition.
Software
All of the organization’s programming needs are met through our two software subteams. The Embedded subteam is responsible for software that governs the motion and controls for the robots, while the Computer Vision subteam is responsible for software that utilizes machine learning and AI to assist in targeting enemy robots. In addition to these responsibilities, both subteams work closely to program our Sentry, a fully autonomous robot that plays a key role in the competition
Electrical
The Electrical subteam is responsible for designing, simulating, and manufacturing custom electronic hardware using industry-standard tools, such as Altium Designer and SPICE simulators. The Electrical subteam’s main responsibilities are designing power-management systems, including a supercapacitor charger and other DC-DC converters. Additionally, they design custom wire-management devices and oversee the wiring of robots.
Operations
The operational side of the organization is divided into two subteams, Marketing and Finance. The Finance subteam is responsible for all of the financial matters of the club, handling all monetary transactions with companies and members. Our Marketing subteam handles the organization’s community outreach, designs team merchandise, and reaches out to potential sponsors to fund the innovation and creation happening every day within the organization.
